NATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE
National Youth Theatre is a pioneering youth arts charity that nurtures creative expression, personal well-being and skills development, engaging thousands of 11- 25-year-olds around the UK and internationally each year. Established in 1956 as the world’s first youth theatre, NYT is renowned for being the leader in providing industry-connected training for young creatives. NYT discovers and champions diverse voices, performers, technicians and creative leaders, commissioning and producing ambitious shows in local communities and on leading global stages from the 2008 Olympic Handover Ceremony in the Bird’s Nest Stadium to London’s West End. NYT supports young people into training and work in the creative industries. In 2026 we will celebrate our 70th year of the National Youth Theatre.
NYT’s alumni include some of the world’s most successful performers, technical theatre experts working on the world’s biggest stages and creative leaders around the world. From James Bond’s Daniel Craig and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren to global music star Ed Sheeran, a host of household names started their journey in north London with NYT. Patrons include HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Sir Ian McKellen and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.
