Box House Theatre is a professional theatre company renowned for its pioneering work in Platform Theatre—a bold, minimalist performance style that transforms actors into every element of the production, from characters to props, sets, and sound. Internationally recognised for eliminating technical effects, costumes, and scenery, we champion the raw power of storytelling through physicality, voice, and imagination, bringing back the power of the physical actor.

Our mission is to demonstrate that boundary-pushing, award-winning theatre can be created without reliance on budgets or resources. Our flagship production, Twisted Tales, exemplifies this ethos—earning 12 awards including Best Original Piece, Best Ensemble, and Best Director, and receiving a nomination for the 2024 OffFest Award. Critics have hailed it as “a Platform Theatre masterclass” and “nothing short of spellbinding.” The production has toured to prestigious venues including the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, Brighton Fringe, Camden Fringe, and Southampton’s MAST Mayflower Studios.

Beyond performance, our work supports the holistic development of students and emerging artists. Through workshops and educational outreach, we empower the next generation of theatre makers to create high-quality work using nothing but their imagination. Our Platform Theatre workshops have been praised for increasing GCSE drama uptake and offering a sustainable, no-cost model for devising theatre.

In recognition of our impact, Box House Theatre was named Theatre Company of the Year 2023/24 and Theatre Workshop Provider of the Year 2024/25 by the Prestige Awards. We continue to collaborate with schools and festivals across the UK and internationally, including our upcoming participation in the FOBISIA Junior Drama Festival in Malaysia which has now sparked the beginning of an annual tour of Asia.
